Rhythm Junkiez breakdance classes are broken down into sections; even the total novice can have a go. A normal class for the younger students will consist of a fun, energetic warm up followed by a breakdown of simple footwork and stretching.
The class will then all learn choreography as a team, working together as a group building relationships and communication skills. Acrobatics and core strength plays a large part in breakdance. Children will focus on building their fitness, balance and core strength working towards more advanced movement. Towards the end of the class the children will create a small circle and will be encouraged to showcase their dance skills to parents and fellow students. What is Break dancing
Breakdancing is a recognised style of street dance that was derived inNew York Cityby youths in the Hip-hop era of the 1970’s. The style consists of four initial elements, toprock, footwork, power moves and freezes. Toprocks refer to a sequence of steps performed from the standing position; this sequence can be varied according to the person expressing themselves through dance. Footwork is movement on the floor during a performance using the hands for support with the 6 step move being an example of this. Power moves are moves that require flexibility, endurance and strength in order to execute the move correctly. Common examples of this include head spins, windmills and swipes. Freezes are a posed position used to emphasise the tone of the music and can distinguish the end of a performance, baby freeze and inverts are popular examples of this.
As the dance style progressed in status among dancers, intricate body movements, coordination, style, and aesthetics were incorporated into the technique. Fashion and spontaneity play a large role in the development of break dancing with a large following of the distinct clothing worn by dancers.
What is Break dancing
Numerous styles are used in breakdancing with an individual flare providing a creative and distinctive performance; dancers incorporate their influences and ideas through their own dance style. Original breakdancing moves consisted mainly of footwork and body freezes with less intricate tricks such as head spinning. Smoother steps were then added allowing the dance craze to take off and gain popularity in main stream disco and dance clubs. Breakdancing is now practiced worldwide and has been a global phenomenon since the 1980’s.
Breakdancing has evolved since the 1970’s with more outrageous moves involving acrobatics and greater emphasis on footwork. Breakdancing has spread to cinemas and television shows documenting the success of the sport.
